The Horry County Police Department's Mobile Command Unit(MCU) was purchased in 2002 with a Federal Block Grant. This vehicle allows officers to have all the capabilities of the Police Department on a mobile platform. This unit has Satellite Internet, Televison, and Telephone, as well as radios, fax machine, printers and a large format plotter.

The MCU is utilized during extended calls and emergency situations as well as special operations. The MCU is also makes appearances at special functions at schools, churches, etc..
