The South Precinct provides a full range of emergency-response and public safety services. This precinct is designed to help prevent crime and enforce the law in a manner that makes residents and visitors feel safe in their homes, schools, businesses, and neighborhoods of this community. Precinct personnel can respond to situations they view while patrolling the streets of Horry County, as well as work on solutions where there has been long-standing neighborhood concerns.
The South Precinct Office is currently located in the South Strand Complex at 9630 Scipio Lane, Suite G, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina 29588.

Horry County is in the process of constructing a new South Precinct building. This building will be located behind the South Strand Complex on Scipio Lane (off of Holmestown Road). Citizens will then be able to visit this facility to receive the same services currently available from the M. L. Brown Building in Conway. Captain Jimmy Edwards is the Commander of the South Precinct.
Captain Edwards has over 15 years of law enforcement experience and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. He is a lifelong resident of Horry County and began his career with the Horry County Police Department in 1991 in the Beach Patrol Division.
During his time with the Horry County Police Department, Captain Edwards has served as a Beach Patrol officer, Patrol officer, Corporal/Field Training officer, Sergeant/shift supervisor with the Uniform Patrol Division, Lieutenant and Deputy Commander of Central Precinct,and in 2007 was promoted to Captain and assigned as Precinct Commander of South Precinct.
