

The Horry County Police Department’s Airport Division is comprised of one Sergeant and twelve (12) officers. These officers are attached to the airport and provide the basic law enforcement functions on airport property. They must be cognizant of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) rules and regulations, and enforce the security requirements as mandated by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). They patrol the grounds of the airport on foot and by vehicle. They provide traffic enforcement in front of the terminal. Their primary function is the protection and safety of the general public as they traverse through the airport. Officers are on duty 24 hours a day and can be contacted at (843) 448-6953. Each year the Airport Division officer’s come in contact with over one million people.
Supervisor: Sgt Frank J. Venegas Jr. was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico and raised in Miami Florida. He was brought up bilingual remaining fluent in Spanish. This has been a great asset not only to the police department, but to the traveling public coming through the Myrtle Beach International Airport. He retired from the United States Air Force as a Security Police Supervisor in October 1989. He joined the Horry County Police Department in April 1990 and was assigned to the Airport Division as a patrol officer. In October 1998 he was promoted to the Rank of Sergeant and became the Supervisor for the Airport Division.
